An afternoon of Music and Christmas Carols.
15th December 2013 at St. Mary's Church Hall, Old Christchurch Road, Everton, S041 0LU
Our performance of music and Christmas carols on 15th December was very well received by an enthusiastic audience at St. Mary's Church Hall in Everton.
A varied programme included classical pieces by Loeillet, Telemann, Boyce and Vivaldi as well as old favourites 'Over the Sea to Sky', 'Walking in the Air' and 'Bright Eyes'. The programme also included Christmas carols with audience participation. The carols were accompanied by Flute Group members Philippa Turner on piano , Tina Reyes-Hughes on guitar, Tina Perrin on flute and her son Lucas on trumpet. A flute arrangement of Vivaldi's very beautiful 'Largo' movement from 'Winter' from The Four Season's was also enhanced by Tina's lovely guitar accompaniment.
The concert raised £178.83 for the Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington, which provides comprehensive specialist palliative care for patients and support for their families in the New Forest and Waterside area.
The afternoon was finished off with tea/coffee and homemade cakes provided by the members of The Flute Group. A very festive and enjoyable afternoon was had by all, so much so, that we have booked the hall already in anticipation of next year!
